10 year plan How does it fit? Contents Previous Next

The 10 year strategic plan – How does it all fit together?

Each part of the business, shown in yellow in the model, has a long-term strategy to plan ahead for the 10 years covered by this plan. These are called functional strategies and you can read each of them in this plan.

Each strategy sets out what we will do in that specific part of the business over the next 10 years, how these actions will improve the services that we offer and the deadlines that we have set ourselves for this work.

When completed, these 14 functional strategies will make sure that Land Registry succeeds in its mission to provide the world’s best service for guaranteeing ownership of land and facilitating property transactions.

In addition to maintaining our current levels of customer service and financial efficiency, the strategic plan aims to enhance existing services and develop new services for the benefit of all of our customers. We refer to this as our future work and we have identified 4 key areas for development. These 4 areas for development, shown in green on the model, are ‘Customer Service Development’, ‘Land Registration’, ‘Electronic Service Delivery’ and ‘Other Business Development’.

As part of our accountability and corporate governance procedures, we have agreed with our Ministers a number of strategic objectives to ensure we deliver improvements in each of these areas for development. These strategic objectives can vary in duration and in scope and you can read about our progress since 2001 in a later section of this plan.

We currently have six strategic objectives to complete. These are:

    Customer Service Development

    1. Continue to make improvements to the delivery of services to all stakeholders./p>

    Land Registration

    2. Deliver timely and effective secondary legislation in relation to land registration.
    3. Create a comprehensive land register for England and Wales.

    Electronic Service Delivery

    4. Introduce an electronic conveyancing system through which most property transactions will be effected.
    5. Make all land registration data electronically accessible to everyone.

    Other Business Development

    6. Develop a broader range of services for property professionals, the public and others.

Strategic objectives 1 and 2 will be delivered continually throughout the 10 years covered by this plan by regularly improving our services and ensuring that our legislation is up to date and meets the needs of our stakeholders. . Strategic objectives 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be achieved progressively over the period.
