During the past 12 months we have participated in the following conferences. May 2006 – Australia Andrew Trigg, Chief Geographic Information Officer, attended the Land Registrars Development Officers Conference (LRDOC) in Melbourne, at which he gave presentations on the topics Spatial Data Infrastructure: Challenges and opportunities and Land Registry initiatives and progress. June 2006 – Spain Former Head of the Unit John Meadows, Stevenage Office Land Registrar Michael Croker and our Unit Coordinator Sue Knowles attended the international conference on The transfer of real property in European law organised by the Colegio de Registradores de España in Madrid. July 2006 – DFiD Annual Retreat We were privileged to be invited to attend part of the Department for International Development’s rural livelihoods officers’ annual retreat in July. Unit Head Dorothee Müller and Jon Llewellyn from Wales Office presented the work of the unit and made or renewed contact with government colleagues. October 2006 – Germany Andrew Trigg presented a paper entitled Local to European SDI – “Mash up” or professional, industry strength infrastructure? at the 23rd International FIG Congress in Munich. The theme of this FIG Congress, the largest ever, was Shaping the change and it was held in conjunction with the INTERGEO conference and trade fair. October 2006 – Australia Our Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive Peter Collis represented Land Registry at the 34th Australasian Registrars’ Conference in Perth, Australia. Peter delivered presentations to the delegates on e-conveyancing and INSPIRE – an INfrastructure for SPatial InfoRmation in Europe. |
