(2002) implemented in October 2003




This Act provided the legal framework in which all registered conveyancing could be conducted electronically.

Land Register
Online
launched.
A web-based enquiry
service for members of
the public.

Electronic Discharges launched. A Land
Registry service for lenders who wish to update the
land register.



2005

E-signatures prototype undertaken to prove the concept.



A simple e-lodgement service launched.

 



2007

Chain Matrix™
prototype.

Chain Matrix ™ was
a web-based notice
board that showed
progress of buyers and sellers involved in a "chain".
Its intention was to provide up to date, accurate and reliable information.

The six-month trial involved more than 1,000 property professionals, and their clients, in three parts of England.

 



2008

New Land Registry web service, the Land
Registry portal
, launched.



Improvements to
e-discharges service introduced.

 



2009

E-charges (mortgages) introduced.

E-signatures introduced
for use on e-charges.

Business Gateway due for release in summer 2009. Conveyancers can lodge applications directly to Land Registry from their case management systems.



2010

All Land Registry Direct customers moved to the portal.

Land Registry Direct
closes.

E-transfers currently planned for release in late 2010/early 2011.



2011

Welsh services
