E-lodgement: background

Since 18 February 2002, some of our customers have been involved in a trial which enabled them to electronically lodge applications to change the register using Land Registry Direct. This service is now being made available to a wider audience.

We call this new service e-lodgement. You should not confuse it with e-conveyancing (electronic conveyancing) which will be introduced separately.

The ability to lodge applications electronically is an important development in our services and a further step by Land Registry to improve the service to our customers. It is the first time that we have accepted applications to change the register electronically as previously any application resulting in an amendment to the register had to be made in paper form. E-lodgement will allow you to submit applications quickly and easily, without the need for paper application forms.

Further development of this service has allowed us to introduce the option for customers to request an electronic result for certain types of e-lodged application. This means that once the application is processed customers can download electronic documentation showing the updated register and avoid having to wait for paper results to arrive through the post.
