Corporate Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing Land Registry-wide procurement policy, following the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Procurement Code of Good Practice (PDF 115kb). The team is based primarily at Land Registry’s Information Systems (Plymouth) and Head Office (Croydon) sites.
One of our key responsibilities is to ensure we serve our internal customers effectively and obtain the best value for money. We foster excellent professional relationships and work with suppliers in the manner most appropriate to the contract. The team has the skills to work with suppliers of all kinds.
As well as setting up our own contracts, we use framework contracts set up by other government departments that have already been through the competition and tender process. We also regularly use Buying Solutions' framework agreements. Buying Solutions is the national procurement partner for all UK public services and is part of the Efficiency and Reform Group within the Cabinet Office.
In line with Government’s commitment to greater transparency, details of tender invitations issued and contracts awarded for procurements over £10,000 since January 2011 can be found on the Contracts Finder area of www.businesslink.gov.uk. Contracts Finder is a free service for businesses, government buyers and the public and provides:
- live contract opportunities
- closed tender documentation
- contract awards and contract documents
"This is an exciting time for Corporate Procurement, as Land Registry embarks upon a programme of significant change.
"Part of this change has been the recognition of procurement as a strategic function, tasked with ensuring that the best value for money is obtained from all external expenditure. This is in keeping with current Treasury thinking in Transforming Government Procurement, published in January 2007."
Tim Leaver, Chief Procurement Officer
