Welcome to Land Registry's consultations page

When we make proposals that we think help make land registration easier, we always discuss them in user groups and other forums.

If any of them significantly affect practice or procedures, we consult formally, in accordance with the Code of Practice on Consultations (external website, berr.gov.uk).

Anyone can comment during a Land Registry consultation. The discussion period normally lasts for 12 weeks and the observations we receive can make a difference.

You can either respond by email or by post.

Detailed of closed Consultations are available here.

Amendments to the Land Registration Rules 2003 and the Commonhold (Land Registration) Rules 2004

BERR (Department for Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform) intend to make the Overseas Companies (Company Contracts and Registration of Charges) Regulations 2009.

Land Registry consider that we should make consequential changes to the Land Registration Rules 2003, involving a new rule relating to charges created by registered overseas companies, and a minor change to the wording of certain forms.

We are also proposing minor amendments to the Commonhold (Land Registration) Rules 2004 to reflect changes to be introduced by the coming into force of further sections of the Companies Act 2006 to reflect the fact that the objects clause of new Commonhold Associations will be contained in their articles of association rather than, as at present, in the Association’s memorandum of association.

We are conducting targeted consultation on the proposed changes. However, we welcome comments from anyone. A letter detailing the proposed amendments is available here.  A copy of the draft rules to which this letter refers is available here.
