Online Annual Review 2005/6

Technical Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Qualification (TechRICS)

The purpose of the TechRICS qualification is to develop a core of highly regarded and qualified professional staff capable of dealing with some of the very complex project work needed to deliver total registration. Twenty students have completed their first year of the qualification and are due to complete the course in October 2006. They have been joined by 15 new students, who started in May 2005.

Current students are receiving survey training to enhance their skills in the use of Geodesy, GPS, Total Stations and Transverse Modified Mercator as well as classic surveying techniques. Development events are held in local offices to cover key issues such as professional ethics, dispute resolution, conflict avoidance, cadastre and land management.
