Project Acacia

The Acacia vision is of a definitive, consistent and joined-up national infrastructure of property addresses with the related data and mapping. By improving the levels of efficiency, this infrastructure will provide service improvements throughout the public sector and the economy. Land Registry has been an active member of the Acacia Group since the project began.

The Acacia Group has now formulated a vision for the suggested national infrastructure and has clarified many aspects of it. It has also conducted and disseminated a substantial amount of piloting and research work. The Group has helped in preparing the foundations for a business case for the national infrastructure, and has identified options for what should happen next.

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) will now consider future structures and responsibilities for realising the Acacia vision. A core issue concerns the structure for developing and maintaining the national address dataset.
