Health and safety

Good health and safety practice is an integral part of our business performance and we strive to provide a safe and secure working environment. In 2003–04, we recorded a record low number of accidents. There were 451 accidents this year (down from 466). Of these, 26 were reportable to the Health and Safety Executive (up from 22).

We have completed our programme of health and safety audits and complied with the legislation. We have revised our guidance and trained line managers as planned. We now plan to produce a stress strategy, to deliver display-screen training/assessments electronically, and have guidance on the prevention/ managing of upper limb disorders.
