Performance
Strategic objective 7: To identify the scope for providing further public services relating to our own sphere of business activity, utilising our business skills, data and resources
Following recommendations in the Quinquennial Review, our International Unit was set up in Head Office in April 2003. The Unit coordinates all our international activity.
During the year, the unit organised study visits for foreign government and land administration officials. The unit has also represented Land Registry at a number of conferences and symposia dealing with land registration and cadastral issues. In addition, a short study visit has been made to Holland at the invitation of the Dutch Kadaster.
The unit has entered into a Business Development Agreement with its counterparts in the International Consultancy Division of Registers of Scotland. This is aimed at ensuring that we do not compete for international work and that, wherever possible, we pool our joint expertise and experience when bidding for projects.
Following a visit to Bahrain, Land Registry has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bahrain’s Survey and Land Registration Bureau aimed at assisting with the modernisation of its land registration practices and procedures.
