Strategic objective 4
The European Land Information Service (EULIS)
The EULIS vision is to provide access to information across European borders via the internet, so creating a better environment for property and finance professionals as well as for citizens. The project looks at the content of the service, standards and protection of privacy, pricing, billing, security, technical solutions and exploitation. It looks to increasing the availability of European land information and improving the single market for financial services.
The EULIS project started in January 2002 and finished in June 2004. The participants were mainly representatives from the land registries of eight European countries.
The aim of the programme is to provide:
- a real service with access to property data
- the means to understand it in any European language
- the service across Europe by inviting all European countries to join EULIS.
Lund University have been organising a series of seminars to bring together the conveyancing community and to increase the awareness of EULIS. The final seminar was in June 2004 and saw the launch of EULIS across Europe. Our Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State gave the opening address.
