Recruitment

Land Registry recruitment activity has been at a lower level than in the previous year. Most recruitment undertaken has again been at local business units and predominantly brought staff in at junior executive and clerical levels. A number of recruits were employed on a short-term basis to deal with the work on vectorising the Index Map. All appointments were made under a process of fair and open competition. We also recruited some staff to work in our call centres. Recruitment to senior positions, and those posts requiring specific skills and expertise continue to be filled using Assessment Centres specifically geared to the role concerned.

An exception to the recruitment principles was made to extend the appointment of one person from less than 12 months to a maximum of 24 months in order to retain their technical expertise.

Sixteen people with disabilities were given encouragement and assistance, under the terms of the Jobcentre Plus Disability Symbol Scheme (Two ticks).

One person was appointed who was eligible for assistance under government programmes to assist the long-term unemployed.
