Comprehensive Land Register

We have a strategic objective to complete the Land Register by 2012. We intend to increase the proportion of land registered in electronic format. It is quicker, easier and cheaper to sell registered land and the open register makes for a more transparent market.

The 2002 Act makes registration more attractive to owners, in particular by strengthening protection against squatting. And we intend to give much greater support to those registering land for the first time.
