Chief Land Registrar's Report

Language Choice

We are assessing the demand for information in languages other than English and Welsh and we have staff who can speak in languages other than English.

Welsh Language

The Registry has continued to enhance the provision of services in Welsh.
Since 1 October 2001:

  • every register template produced at the Local Office for Wales has been printed in bilingual format
  • all headings and standard information on registers of titles in Wales now appear in Welsh and English
  • individual entries now appear in the language (English or Welsh) of the source document on which they are based
  • Most pages on the Agency's website http://www.cofrestrfatir.gov.uk are available in Welsh - a comprehensive bilingual website will be available by March 2003.

A second edition of the Welsh Language Scheme was endorsed by the Welsh Language Board in January 2002 and has been distributed widely throughout Wales.
