Annual review 2006/7 Foreword Contents Previous Next

Foreword by the Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive

This has been an exciting year for Land Registry, not least because of the publication of our Blueprint. This sets out a vision of how Land Registry will look by the middle of the next decade.

At the heart of our Blueprint is a Land Registry tailoring its services to its customers requirements. In 2006/7 we took significant steps in this direction by developing and marketing a range of commercial services and launching our new House Price Index.

In 2007/8 we will continue to develop these and other new services. But our core business remains our primary concern.

Our workload continues to increase but we have dealt with it speedily, accurately and efficiently. We have also increased the Land Register to cover 59 per cent of England and Wales through our campaign encouraging voluntary registration.

Our electronic conveyancing programme has progressed with the launch of the prototype Chain Matrix service in March 2007. We will make further strides in 2007/8.

We would not be able to deliver all this without our committed and talented workforce. We are immensely proud of the service we provide and will strive to do even better in 2007/8.

    Peter Collis
Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive
