    Information and choice

A comprehensive range of practical information about our services and procedures is available from all our customer information centres. All publications and land registration forms are available to download free of charge from our website (www.landregistry.gov.uk) as are all the official forms needed to lodge land registration applications. During 2006, we received 78 written requests for information under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

We receive applications and enquiries from a range of bodies and directly from the general public as well as from the legal profession and financial institutions. We recognise that our customers include everyone affected by our work. They can contact us in person, or by telephone, fax, email and post. Professional customers with credit accounts can access our services electronically through Land Registry Direct and through Telephone Services. The general public can do so via Land Register Online.

All customer information centres are audited for accessibility. We maintain a list of staff who can use British Sign Language and provide a textphone facility. We can provide documents and guidance in a range of formats and use our customer feedback questionnaire to assess demand for information in languages other than English and Welsh.
