We value both our staff and our customers. We aim to deliver a world-class service provided by teams who reflect the society we live in or serve.

Diversity for us is not 'an option'. It is integral to our business. It helps achieve fairness at work and enhances our service to the public.

Check how we are aiming to do this with our strategy.

To demonstrate this commitment, our Single equality scheme 2007-2010 (PDF 463kb) together with the Single equality scheme action plan (PDF 168kb) shows how we are achieving a workforce that embraces diversity. These two policy documents integrate our existing equality schemes on race and disability as well as supporting our pledge on gender equality duty.

As a result of our equality schemes, we have started to screen our functions and policies for their relevance to diversity. We have also introduced an equality impact assessment (EIA) toolkit and guidance covering all diversity strands. Details of proposed EIAs can be found in our Single Equality Scheme and all completed EIAs will be published on this website.
