 Electronic services

The framework document is a statement of Land Registry’s legal position and reflects its status as a non-ministerial government department.

 Electronic services

The massive task of computerising almost 18 million titles was completed in 2002 and all registered titles are now fully computerised. This has enabled us to improve even further our service to customers. Access to the register by telephone and fax is available to our account customers.

Our Land Register Online website enables members of the public to download copies of title information for a small fee, payable by credit or debit card.

In addition, we are now offering on-line access to the register through Land Registry Direct.

 What we do
  • register title to land in England and Wales
  • record dealings (for example, sales and mortgages) with registered land.

Our principal aims are:

  • to maintain and develop a stable and effective land registration system throughout England and Wales
  • to guarantee title to registered estates and interests in land for the whole of England and Wales
  • to provide ready access to up-to-date and guaranteed land information so enabling confident dealings in property and security of title
  • to achieve progressively improving performance targets set by the Lord Chancellor.
 Welsh Language Scheme

Land Registry has prepared a Welsh Language Scheme which provides that,  in the conduct of its public business in Wales, Land Registry will treat the English and Welsh languages equally.

At Land Registry we are committed to ensuring that valuing the diversity of our staff and of our customers, and providing equality of opportunity, are integral to all we do.
